Founded in 2013, RETROTIMBER has developed well in the first ten years of its business.
This is an innovative advancement of the raw material wood –
to the best alternative to conventional reclaimed wood.

Wood meets Water, Heat and Time

The ingredients, besides the natural raw material wood, are water, heat, and time. In specially designed steaming chambers, wood is transformed into RETROTIMBER. Alfred Hanger and his team have succeeded in developing a resource-friendly process that does not alter the unique characteristics but positively influences them. The result: An excellent quality product that has certainly outperformed conventional reclaimed wood. RETROTIMBER is manufactured at several locations in Austria by long-term partners with precision, knowledge around, and a passion for the material wood.

Brand Soul

The field of application for RETROTIMBER is clear, and the target groups are or were clear. But are they also correctly defined? In an intense strategic process that preceded it, the Brand Soul was developed and captured in a master narrative and sphere of influence. As a result, the positioning and sharpening of the actual target groups and decision-makers that are significant contact points for RETROTIMBER were realized. 


Through the sharpening of the brand, clarity was created regarding the target groups, their needs, and their communicative touchpoints with the brand or product.


Design

After ten years of use, the corporate design was revised, cleaned up, and modernized. The fundamental style element, the two axes, was adapted to the distinctive tool used for the chopped wood appearance. 

The wording was set in two lines to enhance and make the word creation more readable. 


The content-added logo elements were removed, and this cleanup action made the RETROTIMBER word-image brand more precise and tangible.


The clear color line with an intense brown tone as well as black and white in corresponding variations is consistently used in all communication media. So are the chosen corporate fonts.


Additionally, icons as further style elements were defined in the corporate design, of which the palette continues to evolve. The appearance is based on a design approach and a graphical foundation.

Communication

During the strategy process, the touchpoints of the B2C and B2B target groups with the RETROTIMBER brand became clear. The communication is aligned to this, leading us to reach exactly those decision-makers who are significant for RETROTIMBER.


The developed materials also serve partners for sales discussions – in RETROTIMBER tone of voice.

Exhibition Stand BAU Munich 2023

For the anniversary year 2023, in which RETROTIMBER celebrated its tenth anniversary, a special communication line was developed to primarily give partners a stage and convey appreciation and thanks. The emotional storytelling path was chosen, making it clear that behind RETROTIMBER are people devoted to the passion for the raw material wood.
