BREITETIEFE designs the digital future of aspern Seestadt
A personalized, accessible experience portal for a diverse, vibrant, and comfortable brand experience.
The aspern Seestadt is one of Europe's largest and most ambitious urban development projects. It is a place of innovation, diversity, and daily interaction. The digital presence needed to reflect this complexity while also conveying the vision of a comfortable and urban living space.
BREITETIEFE developed and implemented a modern, user-centered appearance. From strategic information architecture to real-time content delivery via the central system "Pimcore", a future-proof platform was created that combines interactivity, accessibility, and centralized data management.
Initial Situation: Complexity requires Clarity
The aspern Seestadt combines a wealth of information: From current construction projects to the district catalog, events, and dynamic real-time data. The existing structure was not tailored to the growing amount of data and the heterogeneous needs of users.
There was a need to create a clear and user-friendly information architecture that makes content efficiently accessible while strengthening the brand's visual appeal – adhering to the highest accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA).
The Goal: A Platform for Interactivity and Accessibility
The primary goal was to create a digital platform that underscores the future viability of aspern Seestadt. The appearance should reach the heterogeneous target groups, consisting of project enthusiasts, settling interested parties, residents, employees of local companies, investors, as well as media and press, and reflect the high quality of life and progressive pioneering spirit of the Seestadt.
The main goals included:
Improvement of user-friendliness and optimization of the user experience through intuitive navigation and barrier-free design.
Development of a responsive design system to enhance visual appeal and a clear, structured information architecture.
Introduction of a flexible and scalable CMS to ensure security, easy maintenance, and improvement of workflow processes for editors.
Implementation of real-time content (webcam, departure times, ...) and integration of existing interactive tools (district plan, chatbot).
Improvement of conversion rates and lead generation through target group-appropriate content personalization.
Approach: Strategy, Technology, and Empathy
We focused on a solid, future-proof technological foundation. The choice fell on the flexible CMS Pimcore to establish a single source of truth for all data and assets.
The entire information architecture was re-conceptualized based on the needs of the relevant personas and the "Maximum 3 Clicks" principle. Communication of messages takes place through clearly prepared detail pages, which, through targeted integration of stories, map entries, events, and additional services, create a comprehensive experience for users.
A responsive design system with predefined, customizable templates represents intuitive user guidance to ensure visual appeal on all devices. By target-group-appropriate segmentation and content tagging, the foundation for personalized content delivery was created. This created a personal "My Seestadt" area.
To actively engage users and make the digital platform the "place of daily gathering", interactive and conversion-strong elements were specifically used. Successful integration of the interactive district plan (Mapbox), the existing chatbot, and dynamic real-time content elements (live webcam, departure times of Vienna lines, ...), to portray Seestadt as a vibrant place.
The architecture is scalable and based on the future-proof CMS Pimcore, which significantly simplifies workflow processes for editors. It is also designed for easy maintenance and further development, thus ensuring long-term investment security.
Result & Impact: The Digital Vision of the City of the Future
The relaunch transformed aspern Seestadt from an information portal into a digital experience space that conveys the brand values of Seestadt in every interaction. The new website is not just a business card, it is the digital manifestation of the urban vision: The result shows Seestadt as a diverse, vibrant, comfortable, and urban place of daily gathering with high quality of life and progressive pioneering spirit.
