Basic attitudes that are important to me in Client Services, in my daily work. Well, perfectionism is subjective. But I can't help it. Sorry not sorry.
I remember the new website of a large, that is, very large Austrian advertising agency. It consists of three letters. All in the first third of the alphabet. It must have been in the early 2000s. You saw one of the agency's founders being "pursued" by a dominatrix in the agency's premises. Sometimes on his knees, then hiding behind a desk. The sound of cracking whips. And the dominatrix shouted: "Make the logo bigger".
This amused me back then. It probably also suited at the time that customers wanted to be treated like kings – and had to be handled with kid gloves. Times have changed. The business is still just as tough, but as people, we seem to have become softer with each other. The industry has also become much younger.
What used to clearly follow a Schmid-Schmidl dynamic does not at all correspond to our understanding of collaboration at BREITETIEFE. Not only how we work together as a team and as people, but also how we work with and especially for our clients. And the 'for' is important to me in this context.
Listen, Understand, Reflect
Client Services for us means: to see, hear, understand. Not just the tasks a client gives us, but also the nuances, the needs behind the briefings, the things that may not even have been said yet. We see ourselves as part of our clients' company – with the advantage that we can also take the bird's-eye view.
A Maybe is not a No
True appreciation is not shown by blind "Yes." Sometimes a No is the most honest and helpful thing one can say. Only this way does trust build – and in the end, results that truly advance all parties.
The Vibe Has to Be Right
Sounds like esotericism, put the mountain crystal in the window and hang the dreamcatcher, but it's hard reality: If the chemistry isn't right, the project will be difficult. And so will the relationship. Successful collaboration thrives on respect, mutual appreciation, and a vibe where you inspire each other. Only then does something arise that goes beyond mere task processing.
What Client Services Have to Do with a Chameleon
Quiet observer, loud moderator, the puppeteers in the background. We establish processes, ensure clarity, and keep an overview – without it feeling like bureaucracy. Often, it's the small gestures that make the difference: a quick feedback, thinking ahead, a reminder at the right time, or unexpected birthday wishes on the right day. Small gestures = big impact.
Homo Organisatorius
Project Managers / Account Managers are a unique species – nerds with a love for structure, equipped with an organization talent gene. They think holistically, are empathetic, and remember both the big milestones and the tiny details.
Partnership Problem Solving: From Requirement to Optimal Strategy
At BREITETIEFE, we've noticed a trend in recent years: more and more clients approach us with already specified solution requests – "We want this implemented". This shows commitment and a clear vision. However, our approach in client service goes beyond mere order processing.
The decisive added value of our expertise unfolds when we are allowed to understand the underlying problem and the associated strategic goals of the client. In joint analysis, alternative better, more modern, or more automated methods often emerge, which are superior to the originally intended solution.
Client Services is Teamwork
Because in the end, it's not just about the clients. The agency team itself is part of the project – and must be motivated, organized, and brought along. Only when everyone pulls together does a flow arise in which ideas, processes, and results go hand in hand.
Client Services is when a relationship has developed.
